Five years after its release on Boston imprint Moulty Records (c. 1992), the eponymous debut album by Roman fuzz-punk rebels Head and the Hares gets a deluxe CD reissue courtesy of Get Hip Recordings. This redux’d folk rock masterpiece includes all 12 original tracks plus a bonus cover of The Byrds’ classic “Feel a Whole Lot Better.” Fall in love all over again!

While the majority of modern garage bands draw influence from fuzzed-out Pebbles nuggets, Head and the Hares digs deeper into a more mysterious sound that seems to have permeated New England during the mid-1960s. Taking their name from an NE band that released one obscenely rare 45 and disappeared, Head and the Hares blend a basic folk rock sound with a Zombies-esque minor-key approach to songwriting.
